Maryland does a great job at doing the same thing.  

Our governor (or as I like to call him "The Devil") has been on a
tax and spend mission since getting in office.  There is not a single tax
that he has not raised, including adding additional ones.  I would list
them, but it would be too long of a message.

The only real jobs you can still get here in Maryland are government,
contractor for the government, or healthcare position (since they can't
leave).
