  Do they share the same "data" directory?

  You see this sort of behavior when you have two packets with the same
  date/time stamp on them. BlueWave stores the info on size, %read etc,
  in a list indexed on the date/time stamp -- ignoring packet name.
  Then if you have two readers using the same data directory with two
  different packets with the same date/time stamp, you will see that
  behavior. First reader opens its packet, saves. Second reader gets
  told that its packet has been opened and gives (incorrect) stats on
  it. But it opens it anyhow. Second reader does its thing, saves.
  Now the size, percent read etc of the first packet seems to have
  changed for the first reader to be the same as the second packet.
  Rinse and repeat:-}}

  If that is the cause of the behavior you see, solution is to let each
  reader have its own data file area. Set it in the config under
  directories.
