A long time ago, I read of an exhibit or show in Las Vegas for Trademarks. It
seems there are many nationally known brand names and trademarks that are for
lease or sale. 
Peak coolant, buys out splitfire plugs, etc. Many trademarks merge or pick up
other products. The trademark hold has already advertised and spent a lot of
many and created national awareness, like 75% , 80% or something, then they
can sell it to others who have a suitable product to market under that
trademark.
One very popular trademark is "Good Housekeeping" although lately, we don't
see it so often. I heard one can get usage of it for about $25,000 and meet
their conditions. "Fruit of the Loom" is anoher I can think of.
