 ISTR the draft of the day requiring you be signed up for the draft 
 some time *before* your 18th birthday. 

 Thank your for clarifying this up as some here
 were confused.

 Thus I was indeed both eligable for the draft and was in fact
 issued a draft card by the United States government.

 Of course I was never called up and never served
 but then I've never made any claim to such.
