Ah, thats what dhis.org is. I used it with my Static IP but it
was intended to give the dynamic IPs at least a static name,
Pinkrose.net.dhis.org is still around; Just don't expect to get very
far as all of the bandwith is being used with normal events. SBC and I
are in good standing on the reguard to the bbs. so I never had a
problem with them. and yes, the bbs will have DSL back on in the 27th.
actually thats really not a bad time. heres why.
1. I can save some money during the month and pay some of my back
bill.
2. I can work on tightening up my firewall.
3. I will be forced to think outside of the conventional box. good
mental exersize.
I am thinking of running maximnus for dos under dosemu. but
Dosemu every so often loses files. it lost my nodelist again. I will
need to move the bbs to a real dos machine. Since the files are on a
real and seperate IDE drive I just need to take the drive out and move
it to another box. In addition to moving that boxes internal modem or
finding another similar modem (very possible, I got quite a few of
them.)
Since when I do get the DSL back, I need to find a tool for Linux
that gateways nntp packets to fido/qwk packets. I want to continue to
provide the usenet feeds that My users and myself grown to love evne
if it was on the the maximus bbs on msdos, even if I get the maximus
for Linux done, I still would need the same tools only leaving the
ncsa ftp package out of the equation..
Seems Synchronet is pretty good for that. But how do I get the
wwk packets automatically via qnet-ftp from the synchronet system to a
msdos system running ncsa-ftp? I know how to do it manually. Can the
ncsa ftp program be scripted? and what qwk networking program can deal
with over 2000 qwk message areas?
Eventually I would like to replace synchronet with another
usenet to qwk or ftn package. One thats easy to configue/setup.
