Either MBSE or SBBS.  Right now I am using neither and am more curious
about the bash scripts you referred to.

Also perl scripts I find interesting but I figure quite a bit of BBSing
could be handled just as easily by bash scripting.  Formatting of messages
is where perl scripts come in handiest.
