That's for sure.  One of my favourite spots is the top of a 3000' mountain just
a little out of town.  There's also some much lower spots closer to town that
offer surprising radio performance, especially on VHF/UHF.  I scored well in a
Field Day using a 2W dual band HT on a small hill (under 1000').  Unfortunatley
these days, the place has been overrun with housing (now an outer suburb :( ).

One of the more interesting contacts was with a ham in a city tower who was
using a 20mW radio with a tiny (2") rubber duck on 70cm.  I was able to work
him with only a 1/2 wave on my end.
