That's for sure. One of my favourite spots is the top of a 3000' mountain just a little out of town. There's also some much lower spots closer to town that offer surprising radio performance, especially on VHF/UHF. I scored well in a Field Day using a 2W dual band HT on a small hill (under 1000'). Unfortunatley these days, the place has been overrun with housing (now an outer suburb :( ). One of the more interesting contacts was with a ham in a city tower who was using a 20mW radio with a tiny (2") rubber duck on 70cm. I was able to work him with only a 1/2 wave on my end. 73 de VK3JED http://www.vkradio.com Sysop Reflector Central BBS ... 2 + 2 = 5 for extremely large values of 2. --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.47 --- SBBSecho 2.11-Win32* Origin: Vertrauen - vert.synchro.net (1:103/705) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 103/705 218/903 261/38 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
