Hey Gert!

Neither of which are husky. I haven't tried mbse lately but the last time
I did it seemed to build okay. As for fidogate I don't have a need or use
for that.

GKA> ebuild for fidogate, binkd is too running fine on gentoo.

I have some issues with binkd but it doesn't get much use so it really
isn't a problem. Do you get many connections on binkd? Myself I don't so
it wouldn't hurt much to lose it.

I see no point to that. Newsgroups have worked since day one and never
ever required any special handling. I don't understand the need for
fidogate if that is the only reason. Is there something simular just for
fido echoes and is there even a need for such a thing to start with?

I found nothing that really requires perl, other than the pack and unpack
functions for the 16-bit integers required by the pkt format. It can be
handled by ascii2binary which effectively eliminates that dependency.
Internally nothing requires that silliness so other than outbound I see no
need for such things.

GKA> Like fido echo linux is packet to point 900:104/1.1 then will perl

A bash scripted ascii2binary does the trick and no need for perl whatsoever
to handle that part.

What else?

Life is good,
Maurice
