I took a look at the code running under the debian linux configuration. 
Someone ported the main part of the game to C a few years ago.  The code
would probably work with MBSE without much tweaking.  For maximus, I'd need
to make a few changes because all BBS users run from a single account..... 
Nothing I'll touch soon.....
