Why no-one think to ask the source?
1/2 of me wanted to go play at being John Wayne while
the other half asked himself why would I wish to go kill
a bunch of poverty stricken foreigners who had done nothing to me
or my country?

Then too there was a N-S reunification accord.

However drawing a high draft number I didn't face the decision
to chose between heading north to Canada or to the east to Vietnam.

That would not have been the reason for my ineligability.
Allergic to atropine the specific counteragent for nerve poisons.
Severe respiratory problems.
Flat size 14 feet.

No idea if they would have passed me or not as the war was wound down
to the last year of the draft and they were not taking so many.

 Moot point as I myself aren't sure when I first had them.
 Somewhere between 18 and 22 for sure however had other 
 chronic health difficulties due to being born 2 months premature.    
 Other health difficulties may have masked.

Sometimes it seems I've spent my life in one form of physical
rehabilitation or another.
You would think Tim grateful he was not so unfortunate as I.
