Actual magnetic degradation is pretty rare, unless they've been abused physically or stored next to a magnetic field. Take a look at the actual media while holding the window open--if there is dirt or mold on the surface, the plastic case can be carefully opened and the media cleaned and re-inserted to copy to a fresh diskette.
