Let's see...
For Maximus/Front Door I use BNU and a modem on com3:
bnu /L:2=38400 /R2048 /T2048 /Z2 /F
I run it in a bat file which runs from a pif:
video memory: Text
KB Req: 340 KB Desired: 640
EMS: 0 1024
XMS: 0 1024
Display: Windowed
Execution: background
Background Priority: 650 Foreground: 650
x detect idle time
x uses high mem
x lock app mem
x emulate text mode
One thing that used to hang Windows was the blue box that Max puts on the
screen during a file transfer. If someone dropped carrier before the box was
off the screen it would hang. I fixed that problem with the following in the
bat file after max exits.
if errorlevel 5 cls
Lets see...
If you put a modem on com 4, Windows may decide to treat com4 as com3.
I fix this by using the following in my autoexec.bat:
DEBUG < FIXCOM.DEB
And this is fixcom.deb:
E40:0
F8 03 F8 02 E8 03 E8 02
q
Hmm... what else?
