But I am not using a different standard.  I'd like to look into using utf8
but I didn't invent that standard and would be only using it.  Same with
ascii.  I've been using that one for longer than I've known about Fido and
on systems that Fido would have never stood a chance on due a higher level
of competition for the proper resourses (eg internet connectivity for data
transfers).  All I have been doing is employing proper standards and
sending the rest to the bit bucket.  It's the rest that have deviated from
true standards and added software to compensate for their system's lack of
abilities.  pkzip, etc.  Those where never standards thank goodness and
only the FTSC thinks they are.

Seems to work ... so far.
