Hey Kai! Sep 03 02:15 07, Kai Richter wrote to Maurice Kinal: KR>>> You will need it if your ascii format is declared obsolete. MK>> By whom? The FTSC?!?!?!?!?! :::snicker::: KR> By a guy like you. Someone who prefers some different standard. But I am not using a different standard. I'd like to look into using utf8 but I didn't invent that standard and would be only using it. Same with ascii. I've been using that one for longer than I've known about Fido and on systems that Fido would have never stood a chance on due a higher level of competition for the proper resourses (eg internet connectivity for data transfers). All I have been doing is employing proper standards and sending the rest to the bit bucket. It's the rest that have deviated from true standards and added software to compensate for their system's lack of abilities. pkzip, etc. Those where never standards thank goodness and only the FTSC thinks they are. Seems to work ... so far.
