Interestingly (at least to me, and continuing to be off-topic) the
business about propaganda seems to be very important in this time frame.

  - As the Brits began to employ decent airborne radar, they 'sponsored'
a propaganda campaign that the air effectiveness was due to the RAF
pilots eating lots of carrots to improve their night vision.
