Hello Auke!
Fred Sohn's idea to inbed pagenumbers into footers has solved my problem, but
your answer inspired me to re-check my settings.
AR> Hm ... Matrix printer I think. Do you feed is normal A4 sheets?
Yes, it's a matrix printer, it makes a terrible noise but it prints all
right. The sheets I feed it vary in size. My trouble with the pagenumbers
arose when I used A5-sheets and tried to create small margins.
AR> If so you might wish to check whether there is something which
AR> detects 'end of paper' -- and whether it can be switched off (if it
AR> is on). Maybe there is also something set up incorrectly regarding
 AR> the actual paper size.
I reread the manual, but found nothing about these kinds of options.
AR> My old matrix printer (ten years old, but still working when I
AR> connect it) had some settings to set it to 11 or 12 inch paper and to
AR> optionally skip the last inch.
I can choose between 11 or 12 inch paper, but I don't have that
skipping-option.
 AR> Feeding it A4 paper was .
It's not my idea of a good time either. Other sizes are just as big a %%$$@!
nuisance.
AR> So I bought a laser (second hand) fairly early.
I'm saving for one.
AR> Does anything at the bottom of the page -- as shown by preview --
AR> actually print on that page? Or does it go to the next page?
When I set the bottom-margin to the minimum my printer seems to allow (half
an inch) everything is printed on that page most of the time, but
sometimes the last line goes to the next page. That happens even if
everything looks fine on preview. So just to be safe I don't use the
minimum-margin.
Bybye,
Ellen
