        The height has nothing to do with the volume of sound it can produce. 
 It's simply a requirement for having a ribbon that long.  The 10" woofer 
isn't as nice as the four 8" woofers per speaker (maybe it was 10", I'm not 
100% sure) the Platinums used, but they're reasonable sounding.  I bypass 
them and go straight to a subwoofer, however.
