EK> I restrict the Sysop echos to Sysop's only.
As a non-sysop, I have no say in what goes on in the FN_SYSOP
echo. However, I am free to comment and make my own observations.
As far as I can tell there is nothing in the rules of the echo
stating any restrictions as being necessary or required -
Rules for the Fidonet Sysop Echo

of the echo decides that a change should be made.
Access:
All Fidonet sysops have nonrevocable access as long as they are
listed in the current Fidonet nodelist.
Purpose:
The purpose of this echo is general sysop discussions of any kind.
No subject is off topic.
Tell me, Ed, where in the rules of the echo does it say sysops
must restrict access to sysops only? Please show me, if you can.
Tim Richardson posted a few messages in the FN_SYSOP echo, using
your board to do so. He violated no rules of the echo in so doing.
As a sysop, you violated no rules of the echo in allowing him full
read/write access.
Some of the sysops in the FN_SYSOP echo are bound to complain,
if they have not done so already. And you may have taken care
of the situation before having read this message.
The way I look at things, you are not to blame. And neither
is Tim. Nor should the sysops in the FN_SYSOP echo be blamed.
After all, it is the sysop's echo to do with as they please.
Of course, in regards to the FN_SYSOP echo, as a sysop it is your
option to restrict access to sysops only (there is nothing in the
rules of the echo that states you cannot do so). But the question
is, why would you want to? Why would any sysop want to? In my
view, let everybody play. Not just sysops. That is just my two
cents worth. And even that is overpriced.
EK> What I talk about here is NoneYa.
Like the moderator of the FN_SYSOP says in the rules of the echo,
NO SUBJECT IS OFF TOPIC.
EK> However I opened up Fidonews to all.
Fidonews should never have been closed to anyone.

Availability:
Every sysop is encouraged to make this echo available to any user,
that's interested in reading and writing in it.
Viking logic. "Every sysop" is all inclusive. As is "any user".
Don't you love it?
