  Hmmmm do we forget that Hayes had to file for bankruptcy protection ?? 
They no doubt were the best.... but they are no longer in control of 
setting standards on the market... in fact US Robotics is very strong with 
their recent 3Com merger and they got the first release on X2 56K 
technology for modems.  US Robotics is moving very aggresively to get 56K 
standards set with mostly their input and direction.  It could be that US 
Robitics takes the lead and wins this round in the high tech trend setting 
race.
