I have a PhoneMate 2-line model that has two mini-cassettes for incoming 
messages, but the outgoing greetings (one per line) are recorded digitally. 
My only disappointment with this unit is that whenever I lose power to the 
unit (in my area, that's frequently), the outgoing greetings get "erased" 
from memory and you have to re-do them.  Big pain in the butt.
P.S.  You also have to re-do the special 3-digit code that allows you to 
retrieve your messages remotely.  If you don't change the factory defaults, 
ANYBODY can retrieve and delete your messages.
