The problem is that I don't quite understand what "the problem" is.. :)
Probably why I have such a hard time working it out.
When I first made the switch to linux I added "echo -en "\033(U"" to my bash
profile in order to see what I expect to see (only needed when BBSing). I
don't understand what kind of command that is but it was suggested that I use
it by someone in this echo many years ago and I was able to see the CP-437
characters as I have always seen them. That doesn't seem to help anymore on
the recent distributions I've been running just to see what they are up to
but it is all just experimentation anyway. What I probably need is a font
that supports CP-437 but I'll have to keep on experimenting till I can figure
it out.
