subject: Long `unzip` time

ML> Hello All!

ML> When a user uploads a reply packet to the offline
ML> reader (when logged in via
ML> telnet via VModem) it takes Unzip (OS/2) or Maximus/2
 ML> almost exactly 1 minute
ML> to process the packet before the Maximus/2 menu returns to the screen.
ML> However if a user is connected via dialup, it only takes a few seconds.

 ML> Any ideas?

I haven't tested timing, but I suspect it is related to how TCP/IP is
trying to merge characters into a single packet. Serial ports were
designed for a character at a time. TCP/IP has a minimum packet size that
is a bit larger.... But 1 minute vs a few seconds shouldn't be a
difference from that.... Hmmmm....

Interesting.... Care to see what my telnet stuff is doing for timing? [
telnet://tophat.darktech.org , running Bink/Max under OS/2 using VModem.]

ML> Here's my compress.cfg (Only 1 archiver defined in it):

 ML> =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-CUT-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
 ML> Archiver ZIP
 ML> Extension ZIP
 ML> Ident 0,504b0304 ; "PK^c^d"
 ML> OS2 Add ZIP -j -9 %a %f
 ML> DOS Add pkzip -a %a %f
 ML> OS2 Extract UNZIP -j -o -C %a %f
 ML> DOS Extract pkunzip -n %a %f
 ML> OS2 View UNZIP -l %a
 ML> DOS View pkzip -v %a
 ML> End Archiver
 ML> =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-CUT-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

ML> See anything wrong with that? Any help would be appreciated!

 ML> Best regards,
 ML> Marc
