I can see eclipse being "disruptive" in that way. I know / know
of a large & growing set of "free" projects bringing all
sorts of stuff to eclipse...in fact so much so that....buying expensive
tools???.....I reckon the days of the 3k USD/UKœ IDE are drawing to an end
as are the days of even the 1K IDE.

I've been playing around with the plugins/SWT for about a month & a 1/2 now
& I must say that......actually the scope of Eclipse is much much wider that
just an IDE. You could make a fast & good cross platform Word processor
/set of office tools etc within eclipse.
