That doesn't surprise me any.  However in my case the console is never that
resolution due to the expense of 'regular' resolution monitors ... if you can
even find one that is.  There are still a few manufacturers but they aren't a
stock item in this neck of the woods.

As for your "high ascii" issue, there is and never was any such thing.  It was
and still is othing more than a hoax.  ;-)

Set your apps to cp437 if you really need to get that working.  Personally I
have always avoided that scam but to each their own I suppose.
