Title: Meat Loaf (Gay Bay Gazette)

2 ts Oil
1/2 lg Yellow onion; chopped
1 1/2 lb Ground beef
1/2 c Crushed tomatoes
1/3 c Ketchup
1/4 c Breadcrumbs
1 ts Worcestershire sauce
1/2 ts Garlic salt
1 ts Salt
1/2 ts Ground black pepper
1/2 ts Cayenne pepper
1/2 ts Light brown sugar; opt
1 lg Egg

This is an old-fashioned meat loaf, perfect with mashed
potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
Set the oven @ 350ºF/175ºC.
Heat the oil in a small skillet. Add the onion and cook
gently, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes,
until translucent.
Add to the ground beef, along with the tomatoes, ketchup
breadcrumbs, Worcestershire, garlic salt, kosher salt,
black and cayenne peppers, the optional brown sugar and
egg. Mix lightly but thoroughly with your hands. Shape
into an oval and place in a loaf pan.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the juices run clear.
Serves 4
