Could you explain that?

You do realize, don't you, that in the United Stated, the electoral
college only applies to selection of the President?  There are two
legislative bodies that any proposed legislation has to go through.  In
one the "small" states have representation proportional to their
population, and in the other they are represented far OUT of proportion
to their population.

Even in presidential elections, this would only relate to issues that
would pit state against state, and there aren't that many of those these
days compared to maybe a hundred years ago.

These days, the main effect of the electoral college is to allow both
candidates of the major parties to concentrate their campaigns in
"swing" states that could go either way, rather than having to spread
their campaigns out across the whole country.  Why is that a bad thing?
