| subject: | Re: History of BASIC and c |
From: "Frank Haber" My first language, for a day or two, was plugboards on an IBM 650. I then gave up in disgust, and reverted to solder until 12/1982, when I bought a used S-100 machine and went straight into Z80 SIO, CP/M, and MBASIC. I tended to program only when the better half would periodically remind me that I was spending at the rate of $3500/yr. on CompuServe (at 300B!). A sysop flag soon ensured that I could rot my brain far cheaper than that, and..... If your attention span is as short as mine (about one subroutine's worth a week), you might enjoy VB6. It permits near-infinite sloppiness, yet still does something every once in a while, without revealing your incomptetence to the whole Web. It's cheap on Ebay, and I believe even shows up on a certain equine service every once in a while. I also enjoy throwing errmsgs in Excel and bash from time to time. That's about it these days. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 106/2000 633/267 |
