BA> BK> On the contrary, you get better work from union workers. If BA> BK> non-union workers are better why aren't you willing to pay them BA> BK> more? That's all you have to do. That and treat them better. The BA> BK> only reason to hire non-union workers is to pay less and treat them BA> BK> like slaves. BA>That depends on the situation. Overall it costs approximately 10% more BA>to run a union shop than a non-union shop when the pay scales for the help BA>are *identical*. It therefore is worth it for management to pay the help up BA>to 10% above union scale and not have to deal with a union and its various BA>rules and demands. Of course, in a mixed shop management can't do that BA>because by law they have to pay workers in the same job with the same BA>seniority at the same rate - a union-sponsored law, BTW. Of course, in BA>that same mixed shop if the union negotiates a pay hike or a raise in BA>benefits those same non-union workers get it too; unions call that free-ridi BA>I say it's their law, the unions got it passed and they can get it repealed BA>instead of trying to extort money from non-members. Of course, if the BA>labor unions get their law repealed then in fairly short order employers wil BA>be BA>paying their non-union help up to 10% above union scale to keep them non-uni All that aside in my Experience here in California the Hispanic, almost NON english speaking, NON union Worker was a FAR better crafstman than any Featherbedding UNION worker. Goofing off and poor work is like some sort of Plague amongst Union workers. Even the few best they may have at one point become infected. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ 0* Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 18/200 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
