RD> keep track of police and fire calls while I'm on the road so I can
RD> rush immediately to the scene and get in the way. Heh heh. No,
RD> actually I use it to stay OUT OF THE WAY. There have been numerous
RD> occasions when I've had five or six blocks advance notice of a
RD> fire run and could make alternate route plans.
THC> Just today, I'm pulling out of the mall parking lot and turn on the
THC> scanner. First thing I hear is a couple of police cars being
THC> dispatched to work an accident and such-and-such location. I think
THC> "that can't be right. That's where I am!" Then I lean my head out the
THC> window to see what the holdup is a few cars in front of me... :-)
Just the other day I was reading the mail from this fine echo and
realized that like an idiot I did not have the scanner on... Turned
it on just in time to hear the sherrif dept dispacthed to a wreck at
such and such location. Just like yourself I thought that can't be
right that would mean that it's right in front of the house.... Then I
leaned my head over to look out the window and see what the commotion
was.......
