Hey i found one thing interesting, if you attach 2 Yorkville Elite sw-800's
to a audiopro 3400 watt amp, it still is effective. The trouble is the
transformer inside the amplifiers are just too small. The power supply is
sufficient regarding the capacitors. I had a negative experience with a few
Elite sw-800's when i am driving them with a bridged AudioPro 1200 amplifier
with the minimum 4 ohm jumper set, i had the spider separate from the cast
frame on the woofers in the Elite sw-800's. I used epoxy to re-attach all
the spiders and they work until this day. When i match the audio pro amps to
their elite speakers, especially the subs, they are ok, but when i get a QSC
of equivalent size like the 1250 EX vs. the AP1200 amplifier, the QSC 1250
has less DC offset in bridged mode and can shake your skull off your spinal
cord when attached to an Elite sw-800. I have a pair of elite sw-1000's
(dual 18 l18-851k's) but i drilled a hole in the back to bi-amp the
subwoofers because i simply did not like the 4 ohm loads from one cabinet. I
would rather run dual 18 subwoofers side by side with the top subs on a
different amplifier than the bottom subs. I am still evaluating the Crown
Macro 5000 MZ amplifiers (2500 per channel into 1 ohm), and i find they can
kill Crest and QSC in damping and tightness and control over those sloppy
18's i have.
