Hello Dave!
I have had a problem with my 28.8 sportster... There is a problem with USR 
external sportsters called, The Spiral Death Syndrome. USR has a fix for this 
problem and it's free until June 8,1995... You might want to call them and 
order the update chip. The new chip date is 4/18/95. Not only did this fix, 
correct the SDS problem but It corrected the problem with other connects I 
was not able to make, before the upgrade.
You might also want to try setting the S54=192 and S56=64, when calling 
Lawrence...
