What other brand(s)?

Maybe I've been lucky, but in about eight years of using laptops I've never
had a problem - including once dropping the darn thing 3 feet onto a hard
floor, and several falls onto carpeted floors.. And they've been schlepped
all over North & South America and Europe. All ThinkPads.
