I forget the original subject of this thread, but it dealt with the inability
to print certain graphic symbols in large point sizes using WP 5.1 or 5.1+.
I had found that it was possible to print the 100 point Left Pointing Finger
when graphics quality was set to Draft, but not Medium or High.
This weekend I increased the memory in my LaserJet 4P from 6MB to 10MB; now
it will print in both Draft and Medium, but still not High (600 dpi).
I printed the Left Pointing Finger to file using the three graphics
qualities, then analyzed the PJL/PCL strings with my editor.
The most striking difference is the length of the PCL string generated by WP:
Draft 1295 bytes
Medium 6108 bytes
High 323 bytes
I tried analyzing the PCL commands but found several that are not listed in
my User's Manual. My conclusion, tho, is that there is something wrong with
the PCL string that WP (or the printer driver) is generating for high
resolution graphic rendition of this character.
