:) suure.
writing a virus that destroys hardware:
1) get 1 kilogram of C4
2) build a card that ignites the C4 if a particular i/o write is made
3) plug the card into your computer, and connect it to the C4
4) wrap the C4 around your forehead, like a funny hat.
6) write a program that writes to that i/o address, call it 'virus'
7) accidently execute 'virus'
there we go.
there is no such thing as *can't* be done :).
just to say that is hasn't been done, nor probably will be done, means it
*can't* be done..
its perfectly possible to get certain hardware faults that could be exploited
to destroy hardware, although i doubt one would find very many in todays PCs,
its too discrete.
[argh, stupid people on CB singing, have to hunt them down and kill them]
.. yeah, and no one post me mail abusing me about being silly and explaining
all the crap about infinite binary loops, disk drives turning on and off at
high freqencies, and video seek pulses being altered to heat up one pixel and
explode the monitor.. im not that stupid.
*sigh*
Ben.
