Then you are not "listeniing" to your "elders", young man. I have seen few
arguments with your "opinions", it's the "facts" and "history" I usually
question.
For example: You said something like "Seatbelt laws are un-Constitutional."
I don't disagree with your _opinion_. I just point out that they are not.
You have yet to show me that they are.
You make statements like "Government is oppressive and the U.S. people
are not free." I didn't disagree with your _opinion_. I said that it's
"anarchy" to state that _all_ government is inherently bad. (You aren't
an anarchist if you think _some_ government is bad.)
I can guarantee you that you and I can probably agree that _some_ laws are
stupid. That's not _my_ point. My point is that those laws were either put
in place by the people or their duly elected representatives. And if we
don't like those laws there _are_ ways to get them changed. Simply
isobeying
laws because they are (in our _individual_ opinions) _stupid_ or "bad", is
a "crime" against the choices of the "community" and hence our fellow man.
Since the beginning of time and in virtually every culture there have been
"crimes" (or taboos, if you will). The "crimes" _usually_ involved
relationships (like who(m) one could marry). Now if I was in an ancient
culture I might think that the "law" that says I can't marry SuzieQ _simply_
because she is related to my mother and not my father is really _stupid_
because I'm in "love". But that wouldn't give me the "right" to marry
uzieQ.
If SuzieQ and I _did_ violate the "law" we would be subject to whatever the
"communal" punishment might be. Then again, we could simply leave and start
our own community that didn't have such a _stupid_ law.
Jim
(BTW... I HATE seatbelts because they chafe my neck something awful, but I
still use them and insist that others riding with me do, too.)
