The building was designed by Giles Gilbert Scott (I believe)., anyhow he
also designed Liverpool Cathedral (not Paddy's wigwam, the Anglican one)
which looks rather like a railway station. The story goes (at least David
tells me) that the plans in fact got mixed up at the Architect's office and
no one noticed until it was too late...
