Hi Brad,
As a owner of both a Hughes SRS unit and a NuReality unit (the $50
one), here's my $.02 worth. They both give you a big image out of speakers
that are fairly close together; the sound is pleasing, to my ears; I feel
t's
worth the cost in a small system or room. I like it best for my "computer
stereo" (Polk M-5 speakers 4 ft apart, NAD intergrated Amp, Dual Tuner, Sony
CD-ROM) which I don't use for "critical" listening, just background music,
games & web sounds. It has far less of an affect on my main stereo where the
speakers are widely placed & setup for Dolby Pro-Logic. The Hughes unit is
larger, costs more & gives you more control over the sound. NuReality just
plugs in, turns on, & no control over image width, centering, balance.
That said, I'm keeping the NuReality for the computer & selling the
Hughes unit, care to make an offer? ;)
Hughes AK-500 Sound Retriever System. Audiophile unit hooks to
receivers, separates, TV/VCR, computer speakers, & produces 3-D Theater
like sound from only 2 speakers! Many options, very clean, $75 OBO.
