At the moment I have unzip on one system just to get rid of the need for anything else requiring it. Again, I fail to see the attraction, especially just for messaging. GKA> I have tried to let Hpt use Jam but it gives error of reading by GKA> scan and readig it and then is hpt crash down with erros. I have never tried that. It works fine with raw pkt's and squish. I did write a bash filter that reads in raw pkt's and converts them to pure ascii and that is faster than hpt. Also the result doesn't require any special application to read or even write to it. On a Unix system the ability to write to it can be simply controlled by permissions if the archives are to become system's archives (e.g. a BBS). Overall I think it is a vastly superior format for messaging, even echomail methinks. I have a plan to encorporate my email into the same localized archiving scheme but as of this writing have yet to do that simply because the machine I am testing it on doesn't do email at present. Maybe soon.
