Amen to that.  And users often won't put up with the constant noise of an
outgoing inspection daemon.

Sygate here, when I use one.  For the clueless? XP firewall, in the ?vain
hope it'll do something about cross-pollution on the LAN. 
Spyware/malware/adware seems to be the dominant machine-wrecker these days,
as discussed above.

Actually, I'm finding that stern lectures on social engineering are at
least as important as watchguard-ware, at this point.  That WashPost
article will be handy, for the literate and easily-frightened.  For the
teens, there's always a baseball bat.

Luckily, I'm frequently paid to be the One Who Woofs.  A real employee
might suffer more from such behavior.
