From what you're showing now is different.  I am goint to do a backup of a
partition and then install gcc-2.95.3 etc. and see what happens.  I find it
difficult to believe that version is at fault.  I have a backup of Slack
8.1 that most closely resembles your setup so it shouldn't take too long.
