subject: ip subnets

Hi everyone
Our school has just been assigned a range of ip addresses by some government
authority. The range of addresses is 10.85.113.*, with 1-40 for network
devices, servers etc and 41-254 for assigning to PCs.
Now the problem. Our intranetware server has 5 (yes 5) network cards. How do

(i) assign ip addresses to the 5 cards on the server and
(ii) configure DHCP
so that each of the roughly 30 PCs on each segments receives an ip address?
I have tried all sorts of subnet masks to no avail. Is it actually possible
to do the above?
It's no problem with 1 card of course, or if i use local addresses, but the
above has me stumped. NW won't let me bind (say) 10.85.113.11 to one nic in
the server and 10.85.113.12 to another, saying they're on the same subnet.
It seems we need to sub-sub-net if there is such a thing. I browsed thru the
online docs but my i couldn't seem to find an answer to this problem. (the
docs did say something about ripII and variable masks but i couldn't quite
understand it).
Any help appreciated...
Aziz
