subject: 4.1 protocol

I decided to install 4.1 at home to learn about it.
Got it up (basicly) with duplexing no problem.
When I tried accessing the server from a workstation I couldnt see the server
no mater what I do..
I had 3.12 running fine, and printed out autoexec & startup to have the
IRQ's, PORTS, ect handy..
I know the default protocol is 802.2, but am specifying 802.3 on the load
line, which is:
LOAD NE2000 frame=ethernet_802.3 int=c port=300
What I found, if I list the protocol's -before- I load the driver, I have:
Protocol: IPX frame type: Virtual_Lan Protocol ID: 0
After loading NE2000, protocol show's the above virtual_lan also:
Protocol: IPX Frame type: Ethernet_802.3 Protocol ID: 0
Where is the virtual_lan protocol comming from, can it be giving me this
problem, and can I get rid of it??
Or am I barking up the wrong protocol??
FWIW, I cant see the server from DOS, Winbloat-95, or NT. NT can see both my
W95 machines and such. I've even swap'd the drop cable as a last effort..
I also do get a connect light on the concentrator anyway..
Any ideas??
TIA
Rich
