Maybe because it looks moronic and the guys who can't see that are 
themselves none too bright?     I have that same curse... when my 
hair gets more than about an inch and a half, it's going to go into 
curls.   I have an easy solution... when it gets to an inch and a 
quarter, I have it cut back to a quarter inch.  No problem.  

Hate curly hair.  Never HAVE liked it, don't expect to in future.
