Thanks for the input!

I suspect what the HAM operator was using, would be akin to voice
recognition software. That much can be found commercially for the
Windows PC. Now that you mention it, I think *they* might have a "read
back" mode too. 

The fellow I was recalling, was from Calgary AB, and his name was
*not* Lillian. 

Thanks again, Art. You may have inadvertently given us a workaround!

BTW, a lady on ABLED has been trying to set someone up with this
feature, but I know not where he lives. I might drag her into here if
she has access to the echo, but for the time, I am reposting your
replies there.
