All I know is that last time I tried compiling dosemu for someone it failed but I forget exactly which versions of development stuff. It was a 2.6 kernel, I think 2.6.6 or around there. Probably gcc-3.something and likely glibc-2.3.4. Don't quote me on that though. Wasn't my machine and it turned out not to matter anyhow. Myself I could care less as I wouldn't expect my machine(s) to run anything other the Linux.
