How many times has this happened to me? More times than I can count.
Between the switch on the side of the radio and the so-called light bulb
fuse, I don't know which one has caused the most trouble. That being
said, the TR-4 is a pretty reliable piece of gear. I even restored one
that was exposed to salt water. Once it was washed and thoroughly dried,
and the controls and switches de-oxed it came on just as you would
expect. Even the cabinet was saved. Once I got rid of all the rust I was
able to do a passable repaint job using spray-on truck bed liner, of all
things. Gives a tough textured semi-gloss finish and doesn't cost fifty
bucks a cover plus shipping. A professional repaint job would have cost
more than I paid for the TR-4C.

Also the T/R switch on the left side of the radio gets bumped easily and
can
get pushed into the external receiver position or develps corrosion on
it,
muting the reciever. 73 Tim K8WBL
