subject: Whois Proxy

From: "Frank Haber"

Along the lines of what's in .hack recently, has anyone noticed the closing
of the classic services hasn't stopped - not by a long shot? I'm having
trouble finding a whois proxy that's publicly accessible (port 43, remote
client) and that doesn't ban you after five requests in two minutes. Good
grief; that's not hammering!

Geektools is the best, but busy. DNS411 is flaky in the extreme. Online
web-based sites requiring scribble-authent need not apply.

Anyone here run one? Reply can be by email, for obvious reasons. And my
IP doesn't change that often (g).
