Oh mama, I just read a few pages of a doc that was supposed to be about
configuring samba - I understood very little to nothing at all :-( Oh
well, back to reading & experimenting.
And, I did run the RPM, which kinda popped up a few very uninformal dialogs
with text flying by too fast to read (was it compiling something?). Then it
vanished, poof, without any indication of did the installation succeed or
not. I went browsing around to see if anything looked like samba-something,
and that's how I found the new directory. If this is supposed to be an
installer, I'd say that's another area where Linux has to work on.

(I'm much calmer now, but I still think this sucks)
