Any new amp is going to be difficult to mod. Sure, you can swap resistors
and caps until the cows come home, but you're not going to be able to make
any major design changes, and the resistors and caps that were installed
originally were felt to be best by the designer.
Your best bet for a project amp is to pick up an old Bassman, Deluxe, or
Champ in poor cosmetic condition. These are point to point designs and are
very easy to modify, or even completely redesign.
