Rich,

I wouldn't go so far as to say I absolutely would not participate, but I
have no real interest in doing so. When I feel like exercising my mind on
the subject a bit, I'll read a few chapters of a few books. One interesting
collection (not really designed for the heavy minded, "I wanna debate
to the death" types) is God in All Worlds compiled by Lucinda Vardey.
It's 900 pages or so of excerpts from the likes of: Thomas Merton, The
Dalai Lama, Albert Einstein and on and on.

I'm not sure I follow the connection between kids playing baseball and
religion, but I'm certainly not against a child participating in
"Sunday School" or organized discussions aimed at their age level
in a different setting or time frame than the usual purpose of giving them
somewhere to go while the parents listen to the sermon.

| Mark,
|
| But does that mean that you wouldn't have participated in a discussion group
| about various religious philosophies? Does that mean that you wouldn't have
| had coffee with a Christian who was interested in genuine discussion
about | Christianity - after all, it is one of the world's dominant
religions? |
| Believe me, we're well into trying to deconstruct the organizational aspects
| of church. But that doesn't mean that 25-35s avoid all organizations. They
| still send their kids to Scouts and soccer leagues. |
