nope... i do know a few who have had problems but it depends on which GUI you
are talking about... GNOME, KDE, their new one, some other one...

we have Kubuntu around these parts... those with Radeon cards have all kinds of
problems and had problems on winwhatever, too... that's why they're on Kubuntu
now... the few machines i have running the exact same setup but with NVIDIA
cards have had absolutely no problems at all...

so the questions are, what video card are you using? which drivers are you
using for it? are they the latest drivers?
